What is Fit Learning?

Fit Learning is a one-on-one, evidence-based tutoring program that finds the exact skills a child is missing and builds them to fluency: accurate, fast and lasting. Certified learning coaches use precise measurement and curriculum-based assessment, so students typically gain one year of academic growth in 40 instructional hours.

The goal isn't just better grades this semester. It's a child who has the skills, confidence and capacity to succeed in any classroom.

Fit Learning was founded by four behavior scientists, all Ph.D.s from the University of Nevada, Reno, where the work began. Today there are more than 20 Fit Learning locations worldwide. Fit Learning Nashville brings that same proven model to families in Brentwood, Nashville and across Middle Tennessee.

The science behind Fit Learning

Fit Learning is built on decades of learning research: fluency-based instruction, precision teaching, curriculum-based measurement and Relational Frame Theory. Together, they make skills stick, track progress every session, and show how your child compares to peers nationally. Here is what each one does:

  • Fluency-based instruction: skills are practiced until they are accurate and fast, so they stick and carry over to new work.
  • Precision teaching: every session is measured and charted, so instruction adjusts to your child in real time.
  • Curriculum-based measurement: nationally normed assessments show how your child compares to peers.
  • Relational Frame Theory: the science of language and reasoning behind our Fit Logic program.

How is Fit Learning different from a regular tutor?

Unlike a regular tutor, Fit Learning fixes the underlying skills instead of helping with homework. Every program starts with a comprehensive assessment, sessions are one-on-one 3–5 times a week, progress is charted every session, and skills are practiced until they are fluent, not just correct.

No homework assigned

All the work happens in our sessions, so family time stays family time.

We own the progress

Responsibility for your child's growth is on us, not on you.

Built for your child

Every program is designed from your child's own assessment results.

Personal bests, not comparisons

Children are celebrated for beating their own best, which builds real confidence.
